There was not enough room in the Newsletter to include the following: AGM Gerrard Roots gave a summary of the exhibitions and said the introduction of online virtual tours of the Museum was a highlight of the year. John Hickman referred to the Gift Aid refund for the past 6 years which featured in this year’s accounts and to the expected refund this year for current subscriptions of around £150.00 He also said our finances were in good form with membership money and £1200.00 in the bank. Membership had increased with 5 new single and 2 new joint members. John Hickman and Irene Hennessy were re-elected as Hon. Treasurer/Membership Secretary and Programme Secretary respectively. Pam Taylor and Jeremy Czerkas were re-elected as Committee members and Elizabeth Lawrence and Alan Chard remain Chairman and Deputy Chairman as their office is for 2 years. Antony Hemming did not wish to stand for re-election on the Committee, but wished to remain a Friend and support our functions. Elizabeth Lawrence thanked him for his many years of service and valuable contributions. After a break for refreshments, Miss Catherine Cooke, Curator of the Sherlock Homes Society gave an interesting talk about the novels of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his illustrator: Sidney Paget, who was at one time resident in Finchley. Miss Cooke answered many questions and the talk was much enjoyed by all of us.
